The City of Hilliard currently has jurisdiction over approximately 124 miles of roadway. The City administers an annual street maintenance program to maintain and improve the City's roadways and associated infrastructure. Safety related issues are addressed as high priority to provide safe roadways for motorists. Annual field assessments of local pavement conditions assist staff to prioritize which streets require surface treatments. Streets with severe pavement distresses are considered for full depth reconstruction.
The City's annual SMRP consists of contracts for street maintenance, rehabilitation, repairs, and construction. More specifically, this program includes items such as asphalt concrete paving, pavement milling, crack seal, slurry seal, micro-surfacing, asphalt overlay, parking lot resurfacing and striping, alley repairs, sidewalk replacement, street tree removal, stump grinding, concrete curb and gutter, curb ramps, pavement repair, traffic signs, pavement markings, vehicle loop detectors, and other miscellaneous items. Also included in the SMRP are the following sub-programs: alley rehabilitation, curb ramps, sidewalks, traffic improvement, and pavement marking maintenance.
