On Jan. 10, the Hilliard Division of Police and Ohio State Highway Patrol announced the launch of a traffic enforcement blitz on I-270 in the construction zone. The goal of this initiative is to persuade drivers to slow down, pay attention to driving and get over for emergency vehicles.

In the last six months, the Hilliard Division of Police has responded to 189 crashes just in our 2-mile stretch of I-270 in each direction. Three cruisers were hit within a six-week period. Many crashes are being caused by drivers following too closely, speeding or making unsafe lane changes.

HPD will be aggressively enforcing traffic laws in this area via cruisers on the ground and an aviation unit. Don’t let yourself become someone paying an expensive traffic ticket or — even worse — involved in a crash.
