About Hilliard

Hilliard, Ohio is a thriving community of more than 33,000 residents. Residents and corporate citizens enjoy dependable city and safety services, a highly rated public school system, scenic parks and trails, terrific recreational programs and a variety of safe and attractive neighborhoods. Situated just west of the Scioto River along I-270, Hilliard is only a 15 to 20-minute commute to downtown Columbus.

With roots that began as a village built in 1869 around the railroad station, Hilliard has grown into a city full of local pride and history. The original train station has been restored and remains in downtown Hilliard’s historical Weaver Park. It is an exciting time for Hilliard with recent additions such as the Bo Jackson Elite Sports Facility and Hilliard’s Station Park, which offers an amphitheater, splash pad and year-round events for the community. Our proud heritage and promising future make Hilliard a top community in central Ohio!

Hilliard is home to the Early Television Museum (the only of its kind in the United States), the nation’s second largest First Responders Park and the Heritage Rail Trail. Hilliard also has the only flag from the World Trade Center that is not in a museum. The flag is located in front of the fire department on Northwest Pkwy.

Message from Mayor Don Schonhardt

Welcome to Hilliard where the past, present and future converge in one of the best locations in the nation. Whether you are a new resident, a visitor, or a business looking for a place to grow, you have come to the right place.

The faces of Hilliard range from the quaint shops, businesses and restaurants that populate historic Old Hilliard, to the sprout of new business and industry that lines Trueman Boulevard. An abundance of parks and recreational opportunities accent the quality of life that is our hallmark.

Hilliard is a spirited game of euchre at our Senior Center or a few quiet moments at our First Responders Park. Hilliard is a robust game of softball on one of the city’s diamonds, a leisurely stroll, jog or bike ride down the Heritage Trail, or a cool dip in our aquatic center.

As Mayor, I’m proud of our community where there is something for everyone, young and old and everyone in between. We are a city on the move, centrally located and open for business. We are located near downtown Columbus and are a short ride to John Glenn Columbus International Airport.

I like to say we are known for the “companies” we keep. Hilliard, for example, is the headquarters location for such corporate luminaries as Verizon Wireless, BMW Financial Services, Advanced Drainage Systems, Micro Electronics and the famous Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing Team.

We have a first-class school system and the bottom line is that Hilliard is a quality place to raise a family and bask in the warmth of a community that genuinely cares about the past, the present and the future.

We are proud of Hilliard. Come visit us and find out why. If you are looking for an ideal location to put down roots for your family or your growing business, Hilliard defines the word “ideal.”
