Are you looking to make some new friends, try something different or learn more about your community?

The Hilliard Division of Police is accepting applications for its 11th Citizens Police Academy, which begins Feb. 12. The program is a 14-week course that teaches students about the operations of the police division.

The class is free. Dinner is also provided every week for free, thanks to generous sponsors.

Students will learn how to conduct a traffic stop, investigate a crash, collect evidence from a crime scene, operate a speed radar gun, shoot in the firing range and much more. Additionally, students will learn about a day in the life of our partners at the Norwich Township Fire Department, including opportunities to try on fire gear, climb into a ladder truck, enjoy a meal at the fire house (cooked by firefighters, of course!) and put out a fire.

Class takes place every Tuesday from 5:30 to 9 p.m. at the Safety Services Building, 5171 Northwest Parkway. Students must be at least 18 years old and live or work in the City of Hilliard, Norwich Township or Hilliard City School District.

Those interested in joining the next class should fill out an application and email it to PoliceInfo@HilliardOhio.gov.
