Charter Review Commission Inaugural MeetingPosted August 24, 2017 in City Council
Yesterday, Aug. 23, 2017, the Hilliard Charter Review Commission met for the first time. The 11 members, selected by City Council in July, took their Oaths of Office and elected the leadership team. Kurt Gearhiser was elected to serve as the Chairperson and Michael-Lynn Evans was elected as the Vice-Chairperson.
The Charter Review Commission will conduct a thorough review of the 13 sections of Hilliard’s Charter over the course of the next twelve months. The commission will then recommend Charter amendments to City Council, who will make the final decisions as to what will be added to the ballet to be voted on.
The Charter is a legal document that defines how the city operates. This review process only takes place once in every 10 years and is necessary to provide the most efficient operation of government.
