Freelance Tourism Marketing Coordinator

Description: The Freelance Tourism Marketer Coordinator supports community economic development efforts by promoting the Hilliard community and local businesses as destinations for local, regional, and statewide visitors. While technically helping to manage marketing efforts of the Destination Hilliard convention and visitor’s bureau, the position answers to the City of Hilliard Director of Community Relations as part of a contract with Destination Hilliard.

Essential Functions of Work

The Tourism Marketing Coordinator is a contract position, designed to work approximately 20 hours per week. Work will consist of promoting Hilliard as a destination for leisure travel and as a Central Ohio destination for family and individual visitors. 

This work is designed to encourage economic development, so its primary focus includes the promotion of community special events, restaurants, retail, parks and recreation, art, history, hotels, and other amenities. 

This will include (but not be limited to) creation and management of social media and website content, assistance with development and management of digital advertising campaigns, administrative support of a visitor attraction grant program, working at special events, and working with local businesses associated with the tourism industry. We’d love to find someone who brings creative ideas to the table.

Minimum requirements

A bachelor’s degree is preferred. 3-5 years experience in public relations, marketing, tourism promotion, or similar fields.

Must possess a valid State of Ohio Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Self-motivated idea-person.

Excellent communication with the general public and local business people.

Excellent computer and writing skills.

Professional website and social media management experience.

Experience with email marketing software.

Ability to effectively process and apply data resulting from digital campaigns.

Prior knowledge of the Hilliard and greater Columbus area preferred.

Ability to work some nights and evenings.

Salary: $2,500 / Month
