City, Environmental Awareness Club partner to collect used shoesPosted December 30, 2020 in Community Alert
The City of Hilliard is partnering with Hilliard Davidson High School’s Environmental Awareness Club and charitable organization Soles4Souls to collect new or gently worn shoes.
Soles4Souls turns unwanted shoes and clothing into opportunity, by keeping them from going to waste and putting them to good use – providing relief, creating jobs, and empowering people to break the cycle of poverty.
“Our club chose to work with Soles4Soules because we want to keep as many shoes out of the landfill as possible,” said Alex Torres, Environmental Awareness Club member. “It seems like the perfect fit because we can do something good for the environment while helping individuals living in impoverished places.”
Members of the community are encouraged to donate all types of gently worn shoes to the red collection box located at the composting station just west of Alt Field at 3740 Municipal Way. Please tie the laces or bind pairs of shoes together by using a rubber band to ensure matching pairs stay together.
