City Hires Erin Duffee as Recreation and Parks Deputy Director

The new deputy director of recreations and parks Erin Duffee

Erin Duffee has been hired by the City of Hilliard as its new Recreation and Parks Deputy Director.

Duffee most recently served as Recreation Administrator for the City of Dublin.

“We’re very excited about bringing Erin on board to help lead the Rec and Parks Department,” said City Manager Michelle Crandall. “She brings the kind of industry knowledge, leadership, programming background, and creativity that will help us grow and develop our department and identify strategic priorities.”

Duffee’s first day with the City will be June 29.

“We were fortunate to have many highly qualified candidates for this position,” said Ed Merritt, Director of Recreation and Parks. “Erin stood out to us because she brings such a breadth of skills and knowledge of the industry. Those skills will be a valuable addition to Hilliard as we begin developing a strategic recreation and parks plan later this year.”

Duffee has sixteen years of recreation and programming experience, most of which has been spent serving central Ohio parks and recreation departments. She served as a Recreation Coordinator for the City of Grove City from 2004 until 2012.  Duffee transitioned to the City of Dublin in 2012 as a Recreation Supervisor and was promoted to Recreation Administrator in 2015.

“I look forward to working for the City of Hilliard as I have lived here since 2015, and this is a great opportunity to do the work I love while serving in my community,” Duffee said. “Working in the recreation and parks field provides me with the opportunity to enhance the quality of life for the residents by advancing environmental conservation efforts, social equity, and health and wellness. I have a passion for helping people, being outdoors, and bettering my community by building connections amongst the residents, businesses, and city employees.”

During her time with the City of Dubin, Duffee gained valuable experience in fiscal management, recreation programming for all ages, staff recruitment and hiring and event management.

Duffee, a Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP), serves as a member of several professional committees, Ohio Parks and Recreation Association (OPRA), National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA) and Dublin Chamber of Commerce. She is also a certified group fitness instructor and consultant for Action for Children.

Outside of work, you can find Erin with her family or friends biking, running or walking in one of our community parks. She is a fitness enthusiast and loves yoga and kayaking. Her husband is a high school math teacher and her 6-year-old daughter just finished kindergarten at Alton Darby Elementary School.
