Clerk of Council

Real peopleReal possibilities.”

These four simple words are more than the City of Hilliard’s brand. They reflect the “why” of everything Hilliard’s City Council and Administration do for our community. Our motto promises that Hilliard government is not a bureaucratic institution, but that City staff is made of real people who are a vital part of this community.

The City of Hilliard is seeking an experienced and dedicated person to serve as our next Clerk of Council. The Clerk of Council is a crucial member of the City’s leadership team, serving Council’s administrative needs while also being the liaison between our elected officials and appointed City staff, including the City Manager. Our Clerk of Council also helps ensure there is always an open door for members of our community to engage with the City.

The attached job description outlines the basics of the Clerk of Council position, but it’s difficult for these words to fully encompass the importance of this position to the daily operations of the City – and to Hilliard’s future.

Hilliard is a thriving Central Ohio community with a population approaching 40,000. Located just 15 minutes from downtown Columbus (the 14th largest city in the United States), Hilliard residents enjoy big-city amenities such as fine dining, the internationally acclaimed Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, professional sports, world-renowned performing arts, The Columbus Museum of Art, and The Ohio State University while living in a suburban community filled with quiet, tree-lined suburban neighborhoods.

We’re focused on quality-of-life projects such as exciting signature community events and our diverse parks and recreation opportunities.

We value our history, but we also are pioneers charting a course for the future. Today, Hilliard is a vibrant, close-knit community with a well-educated citizenry, low unemployment and crime rates, and a robust economy supported by diverse economic drivers. And 95 percent of our surveyed residents report they feel safe, thanks in part to our dedicated first responders.

Our community is poised for success, and we’re looking for a “real person” to help us achieve our “real possibilities.”
