Dublin and Hilliard Police Present “How to Help a Grinch Steal Your Christmas” from Dublin, Ohio, USA on Vimeo.

The Hilliard Division of Police and Dublin Police Department have partnered to share a joint message aimed at keeping “Grinches” from ruining Christmas for the cities’ residents.

The humorous, yet important video features Hilliard Police Chief Robert Fisher and Dublin Police Chief Heinz von Eckartsberg giving tips to “Help a Grinch Steal Your Christmas” — not in Whoville, but right here in central Ohio. The suggestions include leaving vehicles unlocked and placing valuables in plain view.

In the video, the green and grumpy anti-holiday character takes a break from his self-loathing to prowl through retail parking lots, searching for unlocked cars and swiping shopping bags stuffed with presents.

“Believe it or not, our two very safe suburbs are not crime-free,” says Chief Fisher. “Especially when it comes to thefts from vehicles.”

Chief von Eckartsberg agrees. “It’s the number one crime year-round in both Dublin and Hilliard,” he says. “If you’re like us, and DON’T want to help the bad guys, then do the opposite of everything we just said.”
