The Hilliard Community Foundation has announced it is presenting SON Ministries’ Camp 2 You summer lunch program its seventh grant from the “Hilliard Gives” COVID-19 Emergency Fund.
Thanks to the generosity of local residents, the foundation was able to present a $2,500 grant to SON Ministries. Six other grants have been made this summer.
“This summer, any hungry child is able to pick up healthy, delicious ‘grab and go’ breakfast and lunch at one of 15 locations throughout Hilliard,” according to Kim Emch of SON Ministries. “Current pick-up locations are at five elementary schools and in 10 neighborhoods, identified as highest need. In addition, enrichment packets with fun children’s activities will be available, along with a daily virtual camp for children to access by phone or other device.”
This program would not be possible without the partnership of dozens of churches, local businesses, corporations and civic associations. For example: Hilliard City Schools, UALC The Church at Mill Run, Cornerstone Christian Fellowship Church, Rock City Church, Columbus Metropolitan Library: Hilliard Branch, Hilliard Rotary and Kiwanis, Hilliard Food Pantry and many more.
Meals are provided weekdays from June 1 through Aug. 14 at Beacon, Hilliard Crossing, Horizon, Ridgewood, and Scioto Darby elementary schools, as well as in the following apartment complexes: Bayside/Countryview, Cabot Cove, Country Ridge, Countryside Mobile Park, Hayden Heights Mobile Park, Hilliard Park, Hilliard Station, Hilliard Village, Pine Crossing, and Wilson Court.

“SON Ministries is incredibly grateful for this support by the Hilliard Community Foundation,” Emch said. “This grant will help feed children in our community who might otherwise go without nutritious meals, once again providing that ‘We are all in this together.’”
The “Hilliard Gives” campaign is a partnership of the Foundation with the City of Hilliard.
“Hilliard Gives” was launched in March to accept donations for local not-for-profit agencies that are working on the front lines, supporting local residents who have been impacted by the COVID-19 crisis. The Foundation expects to be able to present additional grants to other programs in the coming weeks as donations continue to come in from the community.
