The Hilliard East Pool will receive a face-lift for the 2018 pool season! Construction is scheduled to begin on Aug. 23 and be completed by Memorial Day weekend of next year.

The pool improvements are a part of the Comprehensive Parks and Public Spaces Master Plan, where residents had the opportunity to give their feedback through a series of public meetings and surveys. Results stated that residents wanted updates made to the pool while maintaining the character and residential feel of the pool. “We tried to really listen to the public feedback we received when coming up with the plan for the East Pool,” said Heather Ernst, Deputy Director of Recreation and Parks for the City of Hilliard. “That is why we decided to keep the large attractions over at the Hilliard Family Aquatics Center and focus on making necessary improvements as well as adding a few new fun features.”

Phase 1 of the Hilliard East Pool construction will consist of:

  • Complete repair of the main pool floor – sandblast, repair and repaint
  • New filtration system and pool building with upgraded utilities
  • New 14 foot slide to replace the current 10 foot slide
  • New stairs and ramp
  • Zero beach entry with floor bubbler jets
  • New spray pad at existing wading pool area

These improvements mark the second major renovation of the East Pool since it was purchased by the City of Hilliard 30 years ago.

Phase 2, which will start sometime after phase 1 is complete, will consist of replacing the pool bath house and food and beverage space – which was originally built in 1964.
