Several members of the Hilliard Division of Police were recognized for their heroic actions, as they were named the Officers of the Month for May 2018 by Central Ohio Crime Stoppers, FOP Lodge #9 and UDF.

On March 2, 2018, these third-shift officers responded to a domestic violence situation in which the male suspect held a knife to the throat of his live-in girlfriend. The suspect was intoxicated and known to be violent, with multiple weapons inside the house. There were also two small children inside the home at the time.
Dispatchers and officers attempted to talk the suspect into surrendering, but he refused. Officers entered the residence and rescued the victim, as well as the children, who were safe and unharmed. The man was later indicted for felonious assault and kidnapping.
“These officers demonstrated professionalism, courage and quick thinking,” said Police Chief Robert Fisher. “They are a credit to our agency and community.”
