Hilliard police, schools to host Safety Drills

If you see a police response at any of the buildings within the Hilliard City School District on Monday and Tuesday, don’t be alarmed! It’s a safety drill.

On Aug. 19 and 20, the Hilliard Division of Police and Hilliard City School District will be coordinating training exercises at each of the district’s buildings between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Any activity seen at the school buildings during this two-day period is a part of the planned training exercise and not an actual emergency.

“This training is an example of the continued partnership between HPD and Hilliard City Schools to help prepare for emergency situations,” said Chief of Police Robert Fisher. “Please share with your neighbors and friends that any activity is only a drill.” Police vehicles will be parked at each of the buildings during the exercises, which will allow school staff members to test protocols. The buildings will be closed to the public during this time.
