Hilliard Resident Celebrates 100th BirthdayPosted November 28, 2017 in Your Community
It’s not every day that Mayor Schonhardt attends a local birthday party, but today was a special occasion! Hilliard resident, Hilda E. Walz, celebrated her 100th birthday this afternoon at Carriage Court of Hilliard Assisted Living.
Mayor Schonhardt presented Hilda with a proclamation and his very own City of Hilliard pin from his jacket.
Hilda was born and raised in Rome, Ohio where her family owned OG Riebels Grocery General Store and Cole Yards. In 1940 she married Luther Walz, who has since passed away. Her children Beverly, Barbara and Chuck are still living and very involved in her life. Hilda worked for Avon for 25 years, was a Sunday School teacher and sang in the church choir.
