Hilliard to host Battle of the Badges blood drivePosted April 20, 2021 in Community Events
They’ll be out for blood, but for a good cause.
The Hilliard Division of Police is among several central Ohio police agencies partnering with the American Red Cross for the Battle of the Badges blood drive.
The events are being coordinated in conjunction with National Police Week.
The Hilliard blood drive will take place from 2 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 11 at the Hilliard Community Center, 3810 Veterans Memorial Drive, Hilliard. To schedule an appointment call 1-800 RED CROSS or schedule online. Sponsor code: Police.
“We’re encouraging our residents and colleagues to join us in giving blood and giving back,” said Chief of Police Robert Fisher. “Of course, we welcome the friendly competition with our law enforcement partners, so be sure to choose the Hilliard Division of Police when making your donation.”
Other participating police agencies include the Dublin Police Department, Upper Arlington Police Division, and Worthington Police Department.
According to the Red Cross, one donation can potentially save up to three lives. Someone in the U.S. needs bloods every two seconds. The Red Cross provides about 40 percent of our nation’s blood and blood components, all from generous volunteer donors. But supply can’t always meet demand because only about 3 percent of age-eligible people donate blood yearly.
