The Hilliard Division of Police will once again host the community for the annual National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 3.

This year, the event will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hilliard East Park, 4450 Schirtzinger Road. The park is located next to the Clyde “Butch” Seidle Community Pool.

Hilliard police officers will be on hand for various activities, including police cruiser and motorcycle displays. Take your photo sitting in the front of seat a police car!

Families can meet with an officer to learn about programs and services offered by the Division, such as Vacation House Checks, bicycle registration, Women’s Self Defense classes and the nationally renowned Citizen’s Police Academy program.

Ready to go get wet? The Norwich Township Fire Department will be operating a “fire truck splash pad” from about 6 to 6:45 p.m. in the parking lot.

Learn about K9 Ari from handler Officer Kaiser. The duo will give a demonstration at about 7 p.m.

Step up to the dunk tank where police officers will be enticing pitchers for a good cause. The evening will conclude with raffling bicycles and other fun prizes. Free food and treats will also be available.

“This is an event we look forward to hosting each year,” said Police Chief Eric Grile. “It’s a great opportunity for community engagement and supports our philosophy of community-oriented policing.”

National Night Out, which is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch, is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, as well as encourage community and police interaction.
The event would not be possible without its sponsors, which include Target, BMW Financial Services, Rita’s Shaved Ice, Milo’s, and the Hilliard Citizen’s Police Academy Alumni Association
