Letty Schamp, Deputy City Engineer, visited Hoffman Trails Elementary to talk to fifth graders about pedestrian safety during the ‘Just-in Case’ program. The goal of Just-in Case is to teach fifth graders about making healthy choices that will carry them through the rest of their lives. Letty presented many ways for students to make good choices when walking to school, biking on a path and driving with their parents. She discussed the implications of distracted driving, biking and walking as well as why it’s important to reduce your footprint by walking to school.

It was great to see the students so engaged and excited to talk about pedestrian safety!
