Progress underway at new Hilliard library opening this summer

Posted February 7, 2018 in Development by Anna Subler

You may already know that Hilliard is getting a brand-new library this summer. This week, the mayor and some other city employees and directors had the opportunity to take a tour of the construction site!

Columbus Metropolitan Library is in the process of renovating a portion of the Hickory Chase property, located at 4500 Hickory Chase Way. The building was originally built in 2009 to be a Community Center for senior citizens but foreclosed before it was able to open.

The new library will be more than three times the size of the current Hilliard Branch. It will have a larger children’s area, a dedicated space for teens and homework help, more parking, more space for community gathering, a café, a three seasons room and much more. This will be Columbus Metropolitan Library’s largest location.

“This is going to be a great focal point for our city,” said Mayor Don Schonhardt. “We are thankful for the opportunity to collaborate with Columbus Metropolitan Library and the community to make this project happen.”

The new Hilliard Branch is scheduled to open this summer. Check http://www.columbuslibrary.org/buildings/hilliard for updates.
