Senior Hall of Fame Inductees AnnouncedPosted June 21, 2018 in Recreation & Parks
Compassionate, creative and community leader — these are just a few of the qualities that Hilliard Senior Hall of Fame inductees must posses. This year, Wally and Barb Cash and Fern Stumpf (posthumous) will join the prestigious hall of fame for these very reasons.
All nominees have been very active in the Hilliard community. Wally and Barb are credited with having a positive image of aging as they continue to volunteer many hours for various organizations including the Hilliard United Methodist Church, the Historical Society, the Kiwanis Club, the Hilliard Food pantry and more.
Fern Stumpf founded the Packages for Vietnam organization in Hilliard, she also spearheaded the Vietnam Memorial Board in Hillard, she knitted hundreds of hats and mittens which she donated to the Hillard Welfare Council. Fern also started the Dee Scofield Awareness Program locally which led to the 1982 Federal Missing Children’s Act. Fern succumbed to cancer in 1988.
The 2018 Induction Ceremony will be held on Wednesday, September 26 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. The public is invited to a reception in their honor from 5:30-6:00 p.m. and then for the induction Ceremony at 6:00 p.m. at the Phyllis A. Ernst Senior Center. This is the 32nd annual induction ceremony.
