The Hilliard leg of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics is back!

The community is invited to support Hilliardโ€™s first responders and local Special Olympics athletes as they carry the Flame of Hope through Downtown Hilliard on Tuesday, June 10.

The event helps light the way to the 2025 Special Olympics of Ohio Summer Games, held June 13-15 at The Ohio State University.

The local leg of the run will begin after 11 a.m. at Hilliard Municipal Building, 3800 Municipal Way, and end at the Safety Services Building, 5171 Northwest Parkway. The route is Norwich Street to Main Street, then to Northwest Parkway.

Community members are encouraged to line the streets to cheer on the runners.

โ€œThis isnโ€™t just a run โ€“ this is an internationally recognized community policing event that showcases the heart of Hilliard,โ€ said Hilliard Detective Brandon Long, who is currently the Torch Runโ€™s state director. โ€œLetโ€™s come together to support these inspiring athletes as we promote inclusion, unity, and the power of community partnerships.โ€

A $30 donation is required to register for the run. Anyone may donate any amount to support a runner.

All the proceeds directly support Special Olympics Ohio athletes, and 80 percent of what the HPD team raises supports the Hilliard Bobcats Special Olympics team, Long noted. Join the team or donate to a runner here.

Thank you to Safelite AutoGlass for sponsoring the post-race meal for athletes.
