Hilliard’s Environmental Sustainability Commission (ESC) will host a recycling event Friday, Oct. 17, focusing on electronics recycling and document shredding.
The event will be held in the parking lot of the Public Service Building at 3770 Municipal Way from 9 a.m. – noon. This event is free and open to the public, though certain electronic items include an additional cost.
Black Ops Destruction will shred documents in its truck onsite during the event. Guests bringing documents for shredding are limited to three banker boxes of paper. These boxes are roughly 16 inches long by 12 inches wide by 10.5 inches high.
Only office papers will be accepted. Newspapers, magazines, and cardboard should be placed in your standard recycling container for weekly curbside pickup. During the event, each resident is responsible for emptying their own boxes of office paper into the shredding totes, as well as taking their empty boxes back with them.
RenTek will collect electronics for recycling. Acceptable items include computers and peripherals, office and telecom equipment, mobile devices, data center equipment, and home entertainment. A full list of accepted items can be found here, along with the additional cost of certain electronics.
The ESC hosts several semi-annual recycling drives for the Hilliard community. Stay tuned for the next spring recycling event.
The City also provides two 24/7 drop-off stations for food waste and Styrofoam, both located in the Public Service Building parking lot. These drop-off stations are free for anyone to use.
