Recycling

Recycling in the City of Hilliard is easy! Every residential household is provided with one blue recycling bin to place acceptable items in for recycling. Please place these containers at the curb on your recycling day under the same guidelines as your trash. If your recycling container becomes damaged or if you need an additional container, please call (614) 876-7361, ext. 311.

Don’t just recycle. Recycle Right.

It’s not only important to recycle. It’s important to Recycle Right.

By only recycling materials that are accepted at the recycling facility, your recycling will make more of an impact. SWACO’s “RECYCLE RIGHT” campaign makes proper recycling easy by giving you a comprehensive list of what should and what shouldn’t go in your recycling container. For more information about “RECYCLE RIGHT,” please visit here.

Hilliard’s Community Composting Program invites residents to participate in simple, effective actions to support sustainability. By composting the food waste in your home, you can help divert waste from the landfill and reduce carbon emissions that harm the environment. Learn more.

Important Recycling Information

Furniture, carpeting, mattresses, box springs and other bulk items will be collected with the regular trash when placed at the curb. Any upholstered items (including mattresses and box springs) must be wrapped in plastic.

To learn more about what is acceptable in your trash, and how to properly dispose of or recycle items that do not belong in the trash, please visit SWACO’s website at swaco.org and click on the “Diversion” tab.

Did you know that every day in Central Ohio nearly one million pounds of food enters the landfill? We believe that when food goes to waste – so does all the time, resources, and money that went into growing and distributing it. But together, we can make a difference. That’s why we’ve joined Save More Than Food and SWACO to cut food waste in half by 2030. Join us by signing up for the food waste newsletter and visiting the campaign website to learn more about how you can save money, help the community and protect the environment by reducing food waste.
