This week, the City hosted a heartfelt ceremony to dedicate a memorial stone in honor of Former Mayor Timothy A. Ward at First Responders Park. Surrounded by community members, city officials, and loved ones, the tribute recognized Mayor Ward’s impact on the city he served.
From 2000 to 2003, Mayor Ward led the City of Hilliard with an unwavering commitment to the people he served, ensuring that while we moved forward as a city, we never lost our small-town character or our sense of community, said Council President Tina Cottone.
“Mayor Ward understood what makes Hilliard special — the people who care for one another, the neighborhoods that welcome newcomers, and the shared responsibility we all have to make this city a place we’re proud to call home,” said Cottone.
The memorial stone stands not only as a symbol of his public service but also as a tribute to the man behind the title: a devoted husband, father, colleague, and friend. Mayor Ward passed away Oct. 30, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mayor Ward’s legacy will continue to inspire future generations of Hilliard residents and leaders.
