Council approves 2026 Street Maintenance & Rehabilitation Program

City street improvements ahead

Hilliard residents will see improvements on a number of streets across the community in the coming months.

Hilliard City Council recently approved approximately $4 million for the City’s 2026 Street Maintenance & Rehabilitation Program (SMRP). This annual program is a key part of the City’s Capital Improvement Plan and focuses on maintaining and improving roadways to ensure safe and reliable travel.

This year’s program includes a combination of resurfacing, micro-surfacing, pavement repairs, roundabout modifications, and crosswalk improvements, with work scheduled to take place from late spring through late fall.

More than 35 residential streets are scheduled for resurfacing, along with improvements to Riggins Road through micro-surfacing. In addition, modifications are planned at the Britton Parkway and Riggins Road roundabout to enhance safety and functionality.

The scope of work is determined based on pavement condition ratings, traffic volumes, roadway type, and available funding to ensure the most effective use of resources.
