Six interns to join City for the summer

The City of Hilliard welcomes six interns for this summer. They will join a variety of City teams, gaining hands-on experience in communications, public sector planning, GIS, law enforcement and more.

Cami Henry-Seymore – Community Relations Intern

Ohio University student Cami Henry-Seymore will join the City as the Community Relations Intern. Cami will work on communications, marketing, and social media to help inform and engage the Hilliard community.

“I’m incredibly excited to get started and get involved with the community,” Cami said. “Hilliard truly seems like a special place.”

Cami is originally from the City of Gahanna and is currently living in Athens while she attends Ohio University. She is a rising junior in the Honors Tutorial College, majoring in Journalism with minors in communication studies and marketing. Cami has a strong passion for copy editing and news writing, two skills she hopes to continue developing during her time at Hilliard.

In her free time, Cami writes for The Post Athens and Thread Magazine. She also enjoys reading, hiking, and going to concerts.

Xander Stultz – Planning Intern

In the Planning Division, Xander Stultz will work as the Planning Intern. Xander is originally from Kansas City, Kansas, and attended Ohio University for his undergraduate degree in urban planning and sustainability. Now, Xander is in Columbus pursuing his master’s degree in regional planning at The Ohio State University.

This internship will provide Xander with first-hand experience in the field by engaging in zoning approvals, public sector planning, and city code.

“I want to work with people and help build the connection between community constituents and the planning process,” Xander said.

Outside of work, Xander enjoys reading, writing, and playing video games.

Mariam Doumbouya – GIS Intern

In the Operations Department, Mariam Doumbouya is one of the GIS Interns this summer. Mariam is originally from Westerville and is a current fourth-year student at The Ohio State University, studying geographic information systems with a minor in history.

In this role, Mariam hopes to expand on her coursework during her internship by focusing on information technology and analyzing data about the city’s neighborhoods and communities.

“This summer, I am excited to acquire new skills and learn as much as possible about the City of Hilliard,” Mariam said.

Mariam also enjoys reading, walking, and spending time outdoors.

Holly Van Wagner – GIS Intern

Holly Van Wagner is another GIS Intern this summer. Holly is a Hilliard native and is in her third year at Wright State University. She is studying earth and environmental studies with a geographic information systems certificate.

“This internship will help be a kickstart to my career in the sciences by providing knowledge that I learn daily on the job.”

A fun fact about Holly: In her spare time, she often builds Legos and has an immense collection of over 50 sets.

Shannon McIntyre – GIS Intern

The third GIS Intern is Shannon McIntyre. Shannon is originally from Beavercreek and currently resides in Columbus while she attends The Ohio State University to study geographic information science.

“I wanted to work for Hilliard because I wanted to get familiar with other parts of Columbus outside of where I go to school,” Shannon said. “This internship will help me learn more about the process of data collection and the equipment used, supplementing what I’ve learned in the classroom with real-world experience.”

Shannon enjoys going to the gym, hiking or running outside, and reading.

Carter Ely – Hilliard Police Intern

The Hilliard Police Department will host Intern Carter Ely, who will shadow officers, participate in ride-a-longs, and gain first-hand experience in law enforcement.

Carter, a graduate of Hilliard Davidson High School, is continuing his education at Otterbein University studying criminology and justice studies.

“I want to work here eventually,” Carter said. “This internship will help me gain experience toward my career.”

Carter also likes to play golf, go to the gym, ride dirt bikes, and hang out with friends and family.

Welcome to the City Cami, Xander, Mariam, Holly, Shannon, and Carter!
