Two Key Changes Announced in City Leadership

Andrew and Karrie

One long-time City employee has accepted a position with another Central Ohio community, while another is accepting an interim leadership position in the Operations Department.

Karrie Martin, Fiscal Officer, has accepted the position of Finance Director with the City of Bexley. Her last day with the City of Hilliard will be Jan. 10.

Martin has been with Hilliard for more than 15 years, serving as a Budget Analyst and then Fiscal Officer.

“We wish Karrie the best in this exciting professional opportunity,” said City Manager Michelle Crandall. “She has been a valued member of the Finance Department staff, and she will be missed. We will miss having Karrie as part of our team but know she will shine in Bexley.”

Andrew Beare, an Operations Administrator in the City’s Operations Department, has been appointed to serve as Interim Director of that work unit. He fills the shoes of former Director Larry Lester, who has accepted the position of City Manager in Monroe, Ohio.

Beare joined the City in 2020, overseeing Hilliard’s urban forestry section of the Operations Department. He also has a passion for wildlife and helps the community with wildlife conflict issues.

He will serve as Interim Director until a permanent Director is appointed.

“Since coming to the City, Andy has shown himself to be a capable leader and valuable member of staff,” Crandall said. “I am thankful that he has agreed to take on this additional responsibility during the search for a future department director.”
