What we do in the Shadows: Total Eclipse in Hilliard

A total solar eclipse will sweep across the United States on April 8, and with Hilliard in its “path of totality” it will be a great opportunity for community events.

The City of Hilliard is offering a variety of ways to celebrate the once-in-a-lifetime eclipse experience this April.

Total Eclipse in the Park

April 8

1-3:30 p.m.

Free event

Enjoy the eclipse in Hilliard’s Station Park at 3:15 p.m. with a deejay, sun catcher craft, Solar Eclipse Trivia, and snacks. Attendees will receive free solar eclipse glasses while supplies last.

School’s Out, Camp’s In (Eclipse Edition)

April 8

8 a.m. – 5 p.m.

$45 R/$50 NR

Join us at the Hilliard Community Center for an exciting day at camp, where the fun never stops while mom and dad are hard at work! Our program is packed with thrilling activities designed to engage and entertain campers of ages 5.5-11 years. Get ready to embark on a journey filled with games, creativity, and wonder! This day also marks an unforgettable celestial event – the eclipse! Join us as we marvel at the wonders of the universe and witness this rare phenomenon together.

Stories at the Center of the Moon

April 4

Ages 3-5

10 – 11:30 a.m.

$10 R/$15 NR

Look to the sky and take a journey with us beyond the atmosphere in this special class. We channel your child’s imaginations as we explore books and crafts revolving around the sun and moon. Parents are not required to stay onsite for this class.

Eclipse in the Kitchen

April 5 (ages 3-5) 10-11 a.m.

April 2 (ages 6-11) 6-7:30 p.m.

$10 R/$15 NR

Get your snacks ready for the eclipse. In this special cooking class, your child makes snacks and desserts that are perfect for the alignment of our main celestial bodies. An astronomical event of this magnitude will make anyone hungry! Parents are not required to stay onsite for this class.

Night of the Darkness Party/Parent’s Night Out

April 4

6-9 p.m.

$10 R/$15 NR

Parents of kids ages 6 to 11 have a night out while our camp counselors teach children about the upcoming solar eclipse, go on a night hike, play out-of-this-world games, eat moon-cheese pizza, enjoy a stellar scavenger hunt, and create celestial crafts.

Pickleball Party in the Dark!

April 5

8-11 p.m.

Free

Let’s glow! Courts will be lit by black lights, and there will be neon/glowing court lines, nets, ball, and more. Participants are highly encouraged to wear neon.

55+ Solar Eclipse Party

April 8

Noon-4:30 p.m.

Free

You won’t want to miss this Solar Eclipse Party! Enjoy lunch, live entertainment, and watching this rare astronomical event with friends. Pre-paid registration required.
