HPD Introduces New Crime Mapping Tool

The City of Hilliard Division of Police has launched a new crime mapping tool, Citizen Connect.

The online tool is connected with the department’s records management system and allows users to track crime in the Hilliard police jurisdiction. Users can search cases, incidents and traffic crashes by date, location, and type of crime.

Search results will include incident type, report number, date the incident was reported, and a block number. The exact addresses will not be included.

Citizens can also create an account to receive alerts for when a crime occurs in a certain area.

“This is another transparency tool we’re excited to offer to our residents,” said Chief of Police Michael Woods. “Not only does it allow residents to be more aware of activity in their neighborhoods, but it also encourages community engagement to improve policing services.”

Users should note the interface does not provide live data. Generally, activity will load onto the portal within 24 to 48 hours.

For various reasons, including changes in report classification, delays in reporting, and the processing of reports, data can change over time. Some reports may take up to 30 days or longer to process and some reports may only be available via a public records request.

Some data will not be available on Citizen Connect. For more information, public records requests can be made here.
