The City of Hilliard is pleased to announce Letty Schamp, P.E., as its next City Engineer.
Schamp has spent the past 28 years with the City of Hilliard, and since 2020 has served as the Director of Transportation and Mobility. In this role as City Engineer, she will be overseeing both the Transportation and Mobility Division, as well as the Development and Utilities Division that reviews private development plans.
As one of the veteran transportation engineers in Central Ohio, Schamp has transformed Hilliard’s public spaces and streets to improve safety, walkability, and quality of life. She has focused professionally on transportation planning, roundabouts, traffic engineering, and bicycle-pedestrian mobility and safety.
“Letty is a dedicated and well-respected public servant with a passion for safety, whether it’s roadways or pedestrian-bike trails,” said City Manager Michelle Crandall. “She’s been a tireless advocate for the construction of local and regional trails within Hilliard and across central Ohio to improve health, the environment, and economic vitality of the region.”
As one of the veteran transportation engineers in central Ohio, Schamp was nicknamed “Professor Roundabout” several years ago, appearing in numerous city productions as a fun safety advocate.
The promotion comes following the retirement of former City Engineer, Clark Rausch.
