Doherty joins The Well team as Facility Supervisor

Building a state-of-the-art, 110,000 square-foot recreation and wellness center comes with the major task of maintaining the facility and its amenities, and the City has found the perfect person for the job.

Camden Doherty, who has worked for the City for seven years in the Public Service Department, will join The Well team as Facility Supervisor. In his new role, Camden will oversee all general maintenance, which includes monitoring the buildingโ€™s automation systems and supervising a six-person custodial team.

An important part of his role will be identifying immediate repairs to ensure the safety and comfort of patrons and staff.

Camden and his team โ€“ a full-time custodian and five part-time facility attendants โ€“ will handle the inner workings of The Well, with their number one priority being to keep the facility clean, sanitized, and functioning smoothly.

But the work doesnโ€™t wait to begin when The Well opens Sept. 18. Camden is already busy creating procedure standards, organizing a maintenance schedule, and, perhaps most importantly, learning about the new equipment in the building.

โ€œThis building is so state-of-the-art with so much highly complex equipment in there. I just want to make sure Iโ€™m on top of it all right away,โ€ Camden said.

Having worked for the City since 2018, Camden is no stranger to facility maintenance. He began his work with Hilliard as a maintenance technician. During his tenure, he built up a solid background and interest in facility maintenance, ultimately leading him to The Wellโ€™s new position.

As the opening day draws closer, Camden has come up with a motto for the work heโ€™s doing in preparation: โ€œBuild the car now. That way we can just do the regular oil changes later,โ€ Camden said.

โ€œIโ€™m thinking about getting that framed and putting it in my office,โ€ he added.

Itโ€™s an exciting time in Camdenโ€™s life in more ways than one; Camden is married, and the couple is expecting their first baby next month!

Overall, Camden is looking forward to being a part of The Well. โ€œItโ€™s a great facility for the community,โ€ he said.
