The City of Hilliard is pleased to invite Hilliard residents and the general public to the grand opening of The Well, Hilliard’s new Recreation and Wellness Center.
The grand opening event will be held Thursday, Sept. 18, at 3993 Cosgray Road. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by an open house until 8:30 p.m.
Guests are encouraged to explore the building, learn about the amenities, and chat with The Well staff. Explore the open gym, snap an Instagram-worthy photo in the photo booth, test your stamina on a bike blender, and enjoy a craft, balloon twister, and more.
Our two community partners, The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and Alchemy, will also be on site to showcase their spaces through interactive stations that include a sound bowl, Tai Chi, Yoga, and other wellness-inspired activities.
Founding members will also have the opportunity to win a free annual membership for up to a family of four at a raffle drawing during the event! Founding members must be on site at the event to participate. To secure your founding membership prior to the grand opening, purchase your annual membership by Sept. 14.
This is a great opportunity for the whole family to tour the building. Don’t pack your swimsuit quite yet — please note that amenities, such as the fitness equipment and aquatics, will not be available for use during the open house.
A brief history of The Well
On Nov. 2, 2021, Hilliard residents approved Issue 22, an additional 0.5% municipal income tax, paid by individuals who work in the City of Hilliard corporate boundaries (regardless of whether they live here). This additional revenue is dedicated solely to recreation and parks, which includes the design, construction, and operation of the new Recreation and Wellness Center.
Throughout 2022, the City held public feedback forums, developed a detailed concept plan and design of the new center, and started construction on the Cosgray Road Extension.
In spring 2023, the City broke ground on The Well. At the same time, the City held Community Input Sessions to get the public’s advice on the programs and activities they would like to see inside the facility.
The Well’s membership information, amenities, and Founding Membership program debuted in 2024 and early 2025 and construction continued.
The Hilliard Athletic Complex, part of the larger Wellness Campus, opened in April 2025. The complex is home to two state-of-the-art turf fields, over 20 natural grass fields, and over three miles of multipurpose paths around the campus.
The Well has been on the Road to Recreation for a few years, and we are so excited to share this facility with the greater Hilliard community.
