Back-to-Back: Hilliard again named Top21 Smart Community in World

For the second consecutive year, the City of Hilliard has been named one of the world’s top smart cities, earning a spot in the Intelligent Community Forum’s (ICF) Smart21 communities.

The March 20 announcement comes as part of the ICF 2024 Intelligent Communities of the Year Award program, which recognizes communities that demonstrate best practices in broadband implementation, workforce development, digital inclusion, innovation, advocacy, and sustainability.

“Each of the cities, towns, or regions that appear in the Smart21 have applied the six principles of the Community Accelerator Strategy to begin building inclusive economic prosperity, social health and cultural richness, which together make a community strong and resilient,” a release from ICF noted. “Most have been working on their programs for several years.”

The City hopes to once again be named one of ICF’s Top7 Intelligent Communities of the Year when that announcement is made this summer.

“This announcement continues to demonstrate the City of Hilliard is earning international attention for being connected, smart, and sustainable,” said Hilliard City Manager Michelle Crandall. “We’re building on the success of HiFiO and Hilliard City Lab and are excited to take the next steps toward being named the 2024 Intelligent Community of the Year.”

Additionally, this week City of Hilliard Economic Development Director David Meadows served on a roundtable panel at the ICF Smart 21 conference in Tapai, Taiwan.
