City Hires Lentz as Landscape Architect

Michael Lentz

Hilliard resident Michael Lentz has been hired as the City of Hilliard’s on-staff Landscape Architect/Project Manager in the Recreation and Parks Department.

Lentz, who most recently worked as Project Manager and Senior Landscape Architect with the Columbus firm The Mannik Smith Group, will play a major role in Recreation and Parks planning, park design and renovation, master park plan development, grant writing and administration, and capital project management.

This role also will be instrumental in the ongoing development process for the future Recreation and Wellness Campus.

“As the City of Hilliard’s parks and recreation facilities continue to expand, grow and mature, we also are seeing greater value in having someone on our staff with this kind of expertise in planning, design and renovation. Managing major capital projects for Recreation and Parks is going to continue to be a crucial role for us,” said Ed Merritt, Director of Recreation and Parks. “Michael’s experience will be a significant benefit to the City in these areas.”

Lentz previously worked as a Senior Project Designer (Civil) with WD Partners in Dublin, a Senior Project Manager and Landscape Architect with POD Design in Columbus, and a Landscape Architect and Site Development Manager for Fanning/Howey Associates in Dublin. He has also held positions in Charlotte, N.C., and Tampa, Fla.

He is a graduate of The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in landscape architecture. He is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects, the Sustainable Design and Development Professional Practice Network, the Council for Landscape Architects Board, and an alumni member of The Ohio State University Marching Band.

Lentz also has served as a member of the City of Hilliard’s Recreation and Parks Advisory Board.
