Council approves 2025 street maintenance projects

City street improvements ahead

Hilliard residents will see improvements on various residential streets throughout the community in the coming months.

Hilliard City Council on Monday approved about $4 million for the 2025 Street Maintenance and Rehabilitation Program. This comprehensive program provides funding for the City’s annual programmatic street maintenance and rehabilitation program.

The City currently maintains approximately 146 miles of streets and public parking lots/drives.

This year’s program includes:

  • Resurfacing portions of Alton Darby Road
  • Resurfacing and restriping at Heritage Club Drive to add an on-street buffered bike lane
  • Resurfacing and restriping the northern portion of the HOSA parking lot on Scioto Darby Road
  • Micro-surfacing portions of Britton Parkway
  • Road pavement repairs on Hilliard Rome and Cemetery roads.

Work will take place from late spring until late fall.

The scope of work identified for the various streets is based on pavement condition ratings, average daily traffic, type of street, and budget.

In addition to the micro-surfacing project and 31 resurfacing projects, modifications will be completed at the roundabout at Britton Parkway and Hayden Run Road to install raised crosswalks to improve pedestrian safety and reduce vehicle speeds. Rumble strips will also be added to the east and west approaches, and the roundabout will undergo resurfacing, curb repairs, and restriping.

The 2025 SMRP contract calls for the use of recycled asphalt on some designated streets. Recycled asphalt pavement is a viable, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly product that reuses materials that would otherwise fill landfills.

Below is a list of all the streets that will be treated in 2025:
