The City of Hilliard has a new Zoning Inspector. Forest Runnels joined the Community Development Department in late 2021.

In this role, Forest will inspect properties and manage permit requests for building items. His job is to ensure residents and businesses remain in zoning compliance, which keeps the City looking its best.

“My favorite part of being a zoning inspector is working with the property owners that have outstanding violations,” he said. “The goal is to work together to get their property into compliance with the City’s code.”

Forest comes to the City from Summit Locations where he was the Permitting Manager and worked with municipal agencies across four states. He’s recently obtained multiple certifications from the International Code Council (ICC) in zoning, property maintenance and housing inspection, and code enforcement.

Forest lives in Enon, OH with his wife, Brittany, and six-month old daughter, Arabella. He studied Political Science with a focus in Urban Development at Wright State University. In his free time, he enjoys writing and making music.
