The City of Hilliard is continuing its investment in neighborhood infrastructure with a planned street rejuvenation project covering approximately 28 local streets.
Work will begin Friday, Oct. 9, with work continuing throughout the next week. A schedule of streets and anticipated work dates is available below.
Street rejuvenation is a pavement preservation treatment that helps extend the life of asphalt streets that are in good condition. The treatment penetrates the pavement to help protect and strengthen the asphalt, delaying the need for more costly resurfacing or reconstruction.
Streets are selected for maintenance based on pavement condition, traffic volumes, the type and severity of deterioration, roadway type and available funding.
Residents should expect temporary traffic impacts as crews complete the work. Vehicles can typically return to the roadway within an hour after the treatment is applied. Workers will be on site to assist drivers who need to access their homes or travel through the work area.
A light layer of sand will be placed on treated roads to absorb excess material and improve traction. The sand will be swept up the following day.
During cooler temperatures, the treatment may feel tacky for a short period of time. Some material may also track onto driveways, but it will weather off naturally. Residents are encouraged not to attempt to clean the material from their driveways.
