HPD Movember Challenge raises $3,500 for cancer research

Officers showing their beards

Hilliard police officers put away their razors for a good cause at the end of 2021. The Division was among several central Ohio law enforcement agencies participating in the Movember Challenge.

In exchange for a $100 donation each month, male officers could grow a beard, goatee or moustache and female officers could paint their fingernails any color.

In total, the Division raised more than $3,500 for The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center’s Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute.

“The fight against cancer has hit close to home for many of us,” said Officer Brandon Long, who organizes the effort on behalf of HPD. “Morale was definitely high for this year’s two-month challenge.”

Since the start of this fundraiser, nearly $85,000 has been raised by the law enforcement agencies.
