Improvements to Father Rodric J. DiPietro Park began in October, and include a new connecting path, restroom facility, updates to all four diamonds and parking enhancements.

By summer 2022, the park, located at 3481 Davidson Road, will have an additional path that connects diamonds number one and two, a restroom with flushable facilities, updates to all four diamonds that include making them more accessible to individuals with disabilities, and an updated parking lot layout.

Director of Recreation and Parks Ed Merritt said the project is expected to improve the quality of the existing baseball fields, which will in turn increase usage of the park.

“These much-needed park upgrades will benefit the neighborhood, recreational user groups, and Saint Brendan Church (located next door),” said Merritt. “The City hopes that these changes will bring years of continued use to the park.”

Father Rodric J. DiPietro Park was founded in 1988 and currently offers baseball and soccer fields, green space, public grills, and a shelter house with picnic tables.

Work on the park occurs Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Father Rodric J. DiPietro Park is expected to be complete by summer 2022.
