November marks the return of two popular seasonal recycling opportunities offered by the City of Hilliard. Both opportunities are free for anyone to use and are open around the clock.
Pumpkin Composting
Have your jack-o-lanterns seen better days? Don’t trash ‘em, smash ‘em!
From Nov. 3 through Dec. 2, bring your pumpkins and gourds to the dumpster in the parking lot of the Public Service Building at 3770 Municipal Way.
Please remember to remove all paint, decorations, and non-compostable material from the pumpkins prior to smashing.
Political Sign Recycling
Wondering what to do with your political signs now that the election is over? Recycle them!
The parking lot of the Public Service Building will also host bins for political sign recycling from Nov. 5 through Nov. 20.
Please remove any metal stakes from the signs and sort them into the designated bins.
The City also hosts two additional year-round green initiatives: Food Waste Composting and Styrofoam Recycling.
Both can be found in the parking lot at 3770 Municipal Way. For Food Waste Composting, look for the green signs around the fenced-in bins at the edge of the lot close to the baseball fields. Styrofoam Recycling is located in the shed next to the large warehouse.
Please make sure to follow all posted directions when composting and recycling.
Stay tuned for Christmas Tree Recycling by Local Waste Services. This collection will run the three weeks after Christmas, with collection days on Dec. 30, Jan. 6, and Jan. 13.
