Starting Monday, June 1, 2026, the City of Hilliard and the Franklin County Engineer’s Office (FCEO) will begin separate roadway improvement projects along the Roberts Road corridor.
Because both projects will take place in the same area and during a similar timeframe, the City and County are coordinating construction efforts and sharing information jointly to help keep residents, businesses, and travelers informed about upcoming work, expected traffic impacts, and detour routes related to each project.
City of Hilliard Developer Project – Alton Place Improvements
As part of the approved Alton Place mixed-use development, construction will begin on roadway and infrastructure improvements along Roberts Road west of Alton & Darby Creek Road. This project includes full roadway reconstruction, installation of sidewalks and shared-use paths, street lighting, and utility improvements.
Weather permitting, this work is expected to be completed by mid-August 2026.

FCEO Project – Roberts Road Bridge 4.68 over Clover Groff Run Improvements
The Franklin County Engineer’s Office will improve the Roberts Road Bridge over Clover Groff Run. The project includes rehabilitation of the existing bridge and widening the structure to the north to accommodate a future shared-use path planned by the City of Columbus.
To complete this work safely and efficiently, Roberts Road at the bridge will be closed for approximately 35 days, weather permitting. A detour route is shown on the map.
Construction will be completed by the Franklin County Engineer’s Office Bridge Department. Funding for this project is provided by the City of Columbus and Motor Vehicle Registration and Gas User Fees. The bridge project is expected to be completed in July 2026.

City of Hilliard Maintenance of Traffic:
Eastbound traffic on Roberts Road will be maintained west of Alton & Darby Creek Road. Westbound traffic will follow the posted detour route utilizing Alton & Darby Creek Road and Walker Road.
FCEO Maintenance of Traffic:
Westbound traffic on Roberts Road will follow the posted detour south on Hilliard & Rome Road to Renner Road, west on Renner Road to Alton & Darby Creek Road, north on Alton & Darby Creek Road to Walker Road, and west on Walker Road to Roberts Road. Eastbound traffic will follow the posted detour route in the opposite direction.
