Hilliard City Council seeks to fill a partial term on the city’s Shade Tree Commission. This partial term expires Dec. 31, 2025.
Candidates shall be residents of the City of Hilliard or Franklin County and qualified by experience and/or training in matters related to conservation, such as landscape design, environmental engineering, recycling/solid waste, air and water quality, and environmental health.
Generally, the purpose of this commission is to make recommendations to the City in connection with its tree planting program, including recommendations for the care, selection, preservation, trimming, planting, replanting, removal or disposition of trees and shrubs in public ways, street, alleys, highways and other public places.
The commission reviews and makes recommendations on site plans and streetscape plans for developments and redevelopments within the City, as requested by City staff or Council. It recommends and assists in the creation of a Master Street Tree Plan with the City Arborist/Forester or designated staff member, specifying the types of trees to be planted on each of the streets or other public sites in the City.
The Shade Tree Commission meets at 6 p.m. on the first Tuesday of every month at the Operations Building, 3790 Municipal Way. Meetings may also be held virtually, as needed.
Candidates interested in applying for this vacant seat must submit a letter of interest and resume to the Diane (Dee) Werbrich (CouncilClerk1@Hilliardohio.gov), Clerk of Council, by the close of business June 1.
