The City of Hilliard Division of Police will host the Hilliard leg of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Ohio (LETR) on Tuesday, May 26.
The event helps light the way to the 2026 Special Olympics of Ohio Summer Games, held May 29-31at The Ohio State University.
The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Ohio (LETR) is a volunteer movement that was established by members of the law enforcement community to support Special Olympics. Each year, officers carry the “Flame of Hope” along with athletes into the Summer Games Opening Ceremonies at The Ohio State University. The flame symbolizes courage, perseverance, and the inclusion movement taking place in Ohio and across the globe.
The local leg of the race will begin after 11 a.m. at Hilliard City Hall, 3800 Municipal Way, and end at the Safety Services Building, 5171 Northwest Parkway. The one-mile route is Norwich Street to Main Street, then to Northwest Parkway.
Community members are encouraged to line the streets to cheer on the runners, which include members of the Hilliard Bobcats Special Olympics team.
“This is an incredible event we look forward to each year that allows us to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics Ohio. It also provides the opportunity to spend time together as a community,” said Hilliard Detective Brandon Long, who is currently the Torch Run’s state director.
