City leaders hosted a tour of Hilliard this week, showcasing our intelligent, tech-savvy community to the Intelligent Community Forum (ICF).
ICF co-founder Robert Bell visited the City to help inform his decision on Hilliard being considered for the Intelligent Community of the Year award. For the second straight year, the City was named a Top 7 Intelligent Community of the Year, and now we’re in the running for the top spot, which is set to be announced at the ICF Summit in November in Barcelona, Spain.
The ICF honor distinguishes Hilliard as a model of economic and social transformation in the 21st century and a leader in advocacy, innovation, broadband development, and digital inclusion.
To show Hilliard development and innovation in action, City leaders showed Bell a variety of current and upcoming development projects, including tours of the Hilliard City Lab Tech Incubator, the City’s new Recreation and Wellness campus, Advanced Drainage Systems’ new Engineering and Technology Center, Forsee Power, Hilliard City Schools’ Innovation Learning Hub, and more.
Hilliard is one of only two U.S. cities named finalists in 2024. The other Top7 finalists include:
- Assaí, Brazil
- Coral Gables, Florida
- Curitiba, Brazil
- Durham Region in Ontario, Canada
- Fredericton in New Brunswick, Canada
- Yunlin County, Taiwan
