‘Ideas Week’ Offers Community Opportunities For Public Input

How would you design the Hilliard of tomorrow? How would you change the community’s parks? How would you plan local transportation? How about public and private development?

The City of Hilliard is creating the main planning document that will chart the course for the community for the next decade, and it wants to hear from residents and others who are interested in designing the future of this community.

The City has launched Hilliard by Design, the process that will define the long-term vision for Hilliard’s growth and development in the coming decades. Hilliard by Design is creating a major update to the City’s comprehensive plan – the master document that informs many decisions about the location, character, and extent of public and private development, land use, and infrastructure.

Participating in Hilliard by Design is an important opportunity for anyone who cares about Hilliard. It’s a chance to share ideas about growth, transportation and mobility, parks and public places, and more.

There will be many opportunities for the community to shape Hilliard by Design.

The first is Ideas Week, beginning Nov. 16. Ideas Week will kick-off with a hands-on event at Crooked Can Brewing. Anyone can drop-by and participate between 4-7 p.m.

On Nov. 17, the Hilliard by Design Community Committee will host two virtual meetings that will involve similar opportunities for input.

For anyone who cannot make these events, the City and Community Committee will be organizing multiple smaller gatherings.

Participate in an event that is convenient to you.

“Our current plan, which was created in 2011, guided the City through tremendous growth and development,” said Dan Ralley, Assistant City Manager and Director of Community Development. “Hilliard by Design is an opportunity for our community to have a say in the development of this community for the next 10 years and beyond.”

All opinions matter and all participants’ voices will be heard. Your involvement will help make decisions that will positively impact the community for generations.
