The City of Hilliard plans to convert the existing 5-foot-wide sidewalk along Davidson Road between Raindrop Way and Trueman Boulevard into an 8-foot-wide shared-use path. The project is expected to be constructed in 2028. Any road closures necessary will occur when school is out.
The new shared-use path will provide additional space for pedestrians and bicyclists and create a safer, more comfortable connection along Davidson Road. It will also connect residents to the new TruePointe development, helping create a stronger connection between the development and surrounding neighborhoods, businesses and destinations.
The project was identified as a priority in the City’s Active Transportation Thoroughfare Plan as part of Hilliard’s ongoing efforts to improve safety, walkability and connectivity for all users of the transportation network.
A key part of the project is the Davidson Road bridge. Rather than widening the existing bridge, the project will reallocate space within the existing bridge to accommodate the shared-use path. The bridge will maintain 11-foot-wide lanes in both directions. Additionally, a concrete barrier separating the traffic lanes and shared-use path will remain in place.
This approach allows the City to add an important pedestrian and bicycle connection while making use of the existing bridge structure.
The Davidson Road Shared-Use Path project is funded through a grant from the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) through its Transportation Alternatives Program, which supports projects that improve pedestrian and bicycle safety.
