The City of Hilliard Division of Police is hosting its annual Amazing Abilities Open House. This event gives members of the special needs and autism communities the opportunity to interact with police officers and firefighters in a safe, secure setting.

The first hour will be sensory-friendly.

Activities include the chance to see police cars, Norwich Township fire trucks, and police and fire gear up close. Other local agencies will also be on hand to offer services for residents with autism and special needs.

The event will take place from 9 to 11 a.m., Saturday, July 26, at the Hilliard Safety Services Building, 5171 Northwest Parkway, Hilliard.

Guests are invited to wear their favorite superhero gear.

“As first responders, we know the real heroes are those in the special needs and autism communities overcoming adversity every day,” said Detective Brandon Long, who organizes the event.
