Operations Director Accepts City Manager Role In Monroe

City of Hilliard Director of Operations Larry Lester, who has served the City of Hilliard for more than 26 years, has announced acceptance of the City Manager position in the City of Monroe, Ohio.

“Hilliard has been a great community to work in. It’s been fun and exciting to work during such a time of growth in the city,” Lester said. “Mostly, I commend and thank the Operations team for the work they do every day on behalf of this community.”

Before his previous position, he served the City of Hilliard as Deputy Director of Public Service from 2017 to 2020 and Right-of-Way Services Manager from 2007 to 2017. Before that, he worked for the City of Dublin.

“Larry has been a valuable member of the City of Hilliard team for more than two decades,” said City Manager Michelle Crandall. “He has always prioritized service to this community’s residents through his work and dedication. I know it has been Larry’s career goal to be in city management and I am excited for him to have this opportunity. We wish him well as he takes on this new chapter in his professional career.”

Lester’s work with the City of Hilliard includes leading the teams who provide valued services to our residents, including snow removal, leaf collection, pothole repair, street maintenance, right-of-way maintenance, utility infrastructure, and vehicle maintenance.

He is working toward a doctorate in philosophy in organizational leadership from Southeastern University, a master of public administration degree from Ohio University, a bachelor’s degree from Urbana University, and an associate degree from Columbus State Community College.
