Mayor Don Schonhardt welcomed Edgar Merritt, the City’s new Director of Recreation and Parks, at yesterday’s swearing-in ceremony. In this position, Merritt will oversee the entire Recreation and Parks Department which includes 26 parks, a community center, senior center, two pools and various community programs.
Merritt brings with him over 20 years of experience in the Recreation and Parks industry – most recently serving as the Director of Parks and Recreation of the Village of Obetz. He has also served as a Recreation Supervisor for the City of Kettering and as the Recreation Superintendent for the City of Grove City. Merritt graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Bowling Green University, where he also played football. He has a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Dayton.
