Apply to Join HPD’s Citizens Police Academy

Are you looking to make some new friends, try something different or learn more about your community?

The City of Hilliard Division of Police is accepting applications for its 13th Citizens Police Academy, which begins Feb. 21. The nationally acclaimed interactive program is a 10-week course that teaches students about the operations of the police division.

The class is free.

Students will learn about various topics in law enforcement, including de-escalation, traffic stops, crash and criminal investigations, search and seizure, community policing, and 911 call-taking. Additionally, students will learn about a day in the life of our partners at the Norwich Township Fire Department, including opportunities to try on fire gear, climb into a ladder truck, and put out a fire with an extinguisher.

Class takes place every Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Safety Services Building, 5171 Northwest Parkway. Students must be at least 18 years old and live or work in the City of Hilliard or Norwich Township. A criminal background check is required to join.

Those interested in joining the next class should fill out an application and email it to PoliceInfo@HilliardOhio.gov.
